The most frequent causes of vibrations in plants and machines are unbalanced rotating components and oscillations of external pipelines. Vibrations have a harmful effect on the accuracy of the workpiece or product being manufactured. If the vibrations become too strong this can cause damage to the plant, which usually leads to a further increase in the vibrations and ultimately to total failure. No matter how precisely and rigidly the machine is manufactured or how firmly it stands – oscillations and vibrations can be reduced, but never entirely eliminated.
Rotary joints are required for feeding media (water, steam, oil, air, etc.) into rotating shafts, rollers or spindles. They are usually positioned at the end of the rotating machine component and form the interface to the stationary pipelines. Rotary joints can be a cause of machine vibrations if their rotating parts are carelessly manufactured and/or if insufficient attention is paid to the connection to the rotating end of the shaft. Conical threads are ruled out here.
HAGUE + ZEISSLER offers threads with a spigot or centring surface and self-centring flat metal gaskets for rotary connections. A large number of flange versions with spigots are also available.
HAAG + ZEISSLER offers the series 7101 for machines with unavoidable or even intended rotary or translatory oscillations and vibrations, such as milling machines, inking rollers, presses, mills or shredders. The weight has been reduced by 60% through the choice of the appropriate housing material. This minimises the oscillating mass at the end of the shaft. The service life of the rotary joint is prolonged and the accuracy of the product or workpiece is improved.
